COURSE OUTLINE
You will be shown how Wax Carving can add another dimension to your jewellery making skills. Wax models are used to cast suitable designs into metal for jewellery making, using the lost wax casting process. This introductory course will give you an insight into how to approach the medium through a series of demonstrations followed by individual practice.
Once completed the wax model will be sent away and turned into silver. They will then be finished by Amy in her workshop and sent on to you the creator.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
You will learn about the different kinds of wax available and given an introduction to suitable tools. You will receive advice as to how to prepare a finished article to take to a caster.
Introduction to materials and tools will be taught as a group. Thereafter, students will receive individual advice for specific items.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
We will supply all materials you will need to carve a ring or pendant and prepare it for casting.
Wax carving is messy, don’t wear your best clothes or bring an apron to protect yourself. If you wear glasses, please ensure you bring them, feel free to come with sketches or ideas that we can adapt to work with the medium.
Cake and refreshments are included within the price.
